Wilderness lifeguard training
How many of you go for a dip in a beautiful waterfall after a long day of hiking? Or, jump in the water after a day of paddling? Are you trained as a wilderness lifeguard? Is someone in your group trained? AEE, ACA and WEA all have standards for waterfront safety and swimming activities in the backcountry. However, the industry does not have a common agreement on a certification program for a “wilderness lifeguard”. What do you think? Do we need one? Would this be the next WFR? I really like the program that Landmark has in place.
Mitchell Paddles are the result of true craftsmanship!
Mitchell Paddles are the result of true craftsmanship. Yesterday, I had the priviledge of meeting Peter, the owner/”Presidente” of Mitchell Paddles. He gave me a great tour of the facility located in Canaan, NH. I have to confess that I was really impressed. In the past, I had the opportunity of using a Mitchell paddle and after experiencing the process of creating the paddles I have no reservation in promoting this state-of-the art paddle. I am sure that outdoor instructors who use the water as a vehicle of learning and are looking for a great tool will use Mitchell paddles.
