Videopodcasting in Outdoor Education presentation
Dr. Leo McAvoy keynote at AORE 2009
Dr. McAvoy spoke about three trends in the field of outdoor education. These trends are:
- The populations that we are receiving (in our programs) suffer from Nature Deficit Disorder.
- There is a professionalization of the outdoor leader (Academic degrees, certifications…).
- There is an increase of pressure on leaders to protect participants from all harm, leading to a water-down adventure experience.
What do you think about these trends?
Using Twitter at the AEE and AORE conference…
Professor Weisgerber from St. Edward’s University presents a clear message about claiming a space in Twitter and using it to connect and to engage with your community. I think about the AEE conference and the AORE conference ahead of us. How great will it be to have many outdoor professionals connected via Twitter collaborating during and after these conferences. What do you think?
